I would like to be able to change the pitch of the voices of various characters in my film (without slowing down anything). Is there any software that will do this?

I can only speak for Vegas 4, but here's how I do it: Right click on the event which contains the audio, then select "apply non-real time fx". select "change pitch" (or pitch change) from the the list of filters, and tweak to your heart's desire. Make sure to check the "preserve duration" box, that'll keep the length of the event the same, like you wanted.

If you're not using Vegas, sorry to have wasted your time.

sound forge is a standalone that does this(and many other efects very well)

One additional thing great about Forge is you can BEND the audio over time if you want to create a VSO like slowing down. Vegas can't do that, not at this time.

I appreciate the feedback, although I've learned that unfortunately Sound Forge is only available exclusively for Windows based computers. I'm using OSX 10.2 on a Mac. Are there any applications that are available for Mac computers that can do similiar things that Sound Forge can?

Peak and ProTools....ProTools is better at this. I don't believe Peak can bend. I'm looking in there now, don't see a tool for bending.

If your needs are simple you might try this product. (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12457) They have a free trial version available for download.

Audacity, which can be found at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/mac.php (for the mac version), is a very powerful free utility. I'm assuming the mac version is as powerful as the windows version, which I use. For a free utility, it's a very good deal.
