It started when aparently, I got sand in my xl-1. I do allot of shooting at the beach. I started getting drop outs like crazy....screen fulls of them. I sent it into Canon and for $500 it was fixed. It was cleaned and the recording drum was replaced. After getting it back, I noticed the drop outs were still there. Not so many, but enough to blow a shot. I sent it back again. Now Canon said it was a tracking problem. Fixed it....sent it back. I am STILL seeing drop outs and now blue flashes at the top of my frame (once in awhile). I sent it back again.

I've talked to the Tech Manager there and tried to impress the fact that I needed it fixed this time. I am shooting a commercial on the 20th of this month.

QUESTION: What more can I do? At what point do I say enough!

Thanks for any imput,
Bryan

Have you been sending a sample tape with the camera so that the techs can see the problem?

No I havn't ...I've talked to them about the problem...but they never requested I send at tape. I am thinking about emailing them stills from the footage that would show them the blue flash and some of the drop outs.

Send them a tape, -not stills-, when you send the camera for service.
