How to do the white balance for outdoor at night if I want to shoot in a place that doesn’t have a lot of light and if I want to shoot the moon and the sky with GL2?

Ken Tanaka August 5th, 2004, 10:53 AM There is no pat answer on these questions, Alex. Remember that the moon is merely reflecting sunlight. So, all other factors being ignored, a daylight white balance will give a true color to the moon itself. Unfortunately, those "other factors" do come into play. The amount of dust and moisture in the air and the angle of the moon with respect to your viewing position will all affect the moon's apparent color. Ditto the moonlight reflected off of clouds. So it just takes some experimentation to get the color and exposure effects you want. I hope this answers your problem. |
