Sorry if this has been covered before, but I couldn't find it easily doing a search.

In 16:9 mode, apparently the viewfinder offers a letterboxed image. What will be output via the BNC and S-video connectors? A squeezed image or letterboxed? Is this selectable?

Thanks!

Squeezed, spaghetti western. Not selectable. D'oh!

Doesn't the 8044 (45) offer switchable aspect ratio's?

8045's do, and the later model 8044's do, but I believe the first models of the 8044 didn't.

What are 8045's and 8044's? Monitors I assume?

As you can see from my article Five Essential Items for the XL2 (http://www.dvinfo.net/canonxl2/articles/article05.php#monitor), I'm fairly impressed with the Sony PVM-9L3, if you don't mind shelling out $900+ for it.
