hi everyone,

i just found out that the windows media player 9 can playback HD contents. out of curiosity, i downloaded the demo files. it's really beautiful. and thru s-video i watched it on my TV too.

now here's the question,

i thought the HD content can only playback on a display with high enough resolution, why was i able to play it on my TV?

the S-vid output re-converts HD to NTSC, interlaced. If you want to view true HD, you need to output via the DVi output on your video card and input to the TV via the DVi connector.

i don't know if anyone notice those DVDs on Windows media player 9 site, the minimum system requirement for display resolution is 1024*768.
1. why can the HD content be display on a screen that's not HD?

2. So, if the media play scale down the content to fit the low res displays, is there any difference in picture quality?

3. just watched a 1080 file on my 20 inch display that can display up to 1600* 1024, just how much did i lost?

4. is there anything wrong with my concept please correct..

thanks
