On the bird_6 video clip, what caused the black tinting on the left and right outboard 20% of the frame?

rokta, nice pictures of the birds with the gs400... can i ask you where you got the support bars for the camera and the lens in first image on the first page (DSCN1351). that looks excatly like something i need for my long lens...
the info would be appreciated, thanks...

I'd risk to say that rig is provided by that lens manufacturer. Babelfish says it's a KOWA TSN-604 lens, so maybe you should try with them. There's some sort of eyesight too.

That is Kowa's TSN-604 spotting scope. He used Kowa's TSN-VA1 photo/video adapter to connect to his GS400. The bracket is Kowa's TSN-DA3 universal mount.
Nikon is also selling a universal bracket for this type of attachment to a digital cam or camcorder. Check out Nikon UBK.
