Can you be more specific? Hunting for focus in auto focus or manual focus mode? Auto focus will always "hunt" if there is insufficient light. Autofocus works by measuring contrast. If there's no contrast in the field of view (such as in a low light situation), then of course it will not work properly. Turn auto focus off when that happens.

ON auto focus. My Gl2 never hunt for focus. My Xl1-s is always hunting for focus.

I'm not the first one to say that. I'm just hoping they fixed that on the xl2 since its more than twice the price of the gl2 wich like i said, doesnt do that

Now I'm just speculating...but in my comparison of the xl1s and gl2 I noted that in many situations that the xl1s hunted where the gl2 didn't, and that it appeared that the xl1s AF system was just more sensitive...or faster than the gl2. For instance the gl2 takes a lot longer to run through its focus range, but once it settles, it's likely not to move as much as the xl1s. I speculated at the time that canon engineered the gl2 this way, probably because the camera would be used by a less professional customer, and more often in low light.

I noticed in the watchdog that the xl2 now has selectable focus speeds, so I'm thinking that one would be able to choose a slower focusing speed that would hunt less.

Wow, That would be great. THat is the only thing that I didn't like about the xl1s. But if that feature is working, I'll be more than happy!
