Hi all,

I have four chaptered videos for a web project. They were originally XDCAM, they've been exported in MOV, then converted to flash video (FLV).

Now I was asked to provide all the chapters of these videos as separate FLV files. Instead of recompressing everything out of FCP, I was wondering if there was a simple FLV splitter application for the mac.

MPEG streamclip or FFmpeg don't seem to help...any ideas ?

Thanks !

Best,

Francesco.

You can do this with Sorensen Squeeze 5 Pro for Flash as I've done it....BUT I've found it's a blunt tool for this (brilliant in many other ways though)....Basically, doing this in Squeeze is not frame accurate so the cut point might be (say) 1 second off where you want it to be - which for me is way too crude a way of doing it. It really depends on the specific 4 section "joins" in your video (like say if they fade to black for a few seconds then back up you'd probably be OK).

The only way (that I currently know) that you can do this is, as you suspect, the time consuming way you suggest.

Hi Andy,

Thanks a lot for you reply. What I did in the end was a middle-way: I took my already exported MOVs, opened then in Quicktime Pro (!) copy/pasted the sections in new video files and saved them as reference movies (a couple of k's). I then put everything in Flash Video Encoder and that did the trick.

It's the fastest way I found, considering I need exact frame control...So I just did one compression after all !...
