i loaded my tape on a preproduction model at the dv expo, some simple tests i di dnot have time to doanything extensive or write down any setting beyond those mentioned...

my take is this, i really love the picture quality, dof is the same as the current xl1 not much diff as i can tell...but the major diff is resolution, no longer soft yet still not harsh..just right

picture quality and only picture quality is what would drive me to buy this cam, the new lens is very nice indeed, i tried to choke it with some soft focus and could not...
