Hi-

I am having a huge problem printing to video from fcp to my deck via firewire.

I do everything over and over, check everything, etc., but NO AUDIO seems to go out.

Audio goes in fine when I capture.

Any clues? Is there some secret button?

have not done this for years.

There is a screening in the south of the country (a new film festival in the war-ravaged c ountry trying to dig itself out of horror) and i want a work in progress to be shown.

Thanks. I am pretty desparate.

What version of FCP? How many FireWire devices (hard drives, camera, convertor, deck) are connected? I suspect you have one of your audio/video settings set incorrectly. Look in audio/video settings>A/V devices tab. Check your audio output.

Hi - Okay...

FCP 3

I am right now just connected to an ext HD and the deck. The HD is off but I will also unplug.

WHAT audio setting? I am looking for somewhere to set or unset something audio but can't find!

But video comes out fine, and as I said, when i capture, audio and video capture fine, I have deck control etc.

thanks

Jane

I just looked on all my computers and I don't have any copies of FCP 3 on them any longer. In FCP 4 there is a setting in A/V Settings that controls audio during playback. But I seem to recall it was different (not there) in FCP 3. Can you hear audio on playback, just not Print to Tape/

Hi -

I just looked and, no there is no place to set audio during playback.

And NO, I can't hear audio during playback when set to play to external monitor. But I know that on FCP you can do that.

My deck is connected to speakers and when I am capturing, I hear audio via those speakers.

I know that I succeeded in doing this once but it was a year ago since I have been making DVDs instead.

I feel very dumb!

Any ideas?

jane

PS I saw a guy named "Tommy" had a similar problem (exact, in fact) but if there was a solution he finally found, it was not posted...

Try asking at the apple/support/discussion forums, too.

SOLVED my problem.

In the audio/video settings, I had selected "NTSC DVCPRO firewire" and should have picked NTSC firewire. Pretty dumb.

Okay have a good weekend.
