Aside from '28 days later,' i dont really know of any major films that were done non-hd dv. Maybe a thread for this should exist. I know id rent every single film mentioned. Ill post anything i find even if i cant get any community support on the thread.

Full Frontal (Steven Soderberg) but that's not a good example becuause it's shot with both 35mm Panavision as well as with the XL1s and they butchered the XL1s footage with some sort of grain plug-in and blew the colors way out of whack.

"Chuck & Buck"
"Tadpole"
"Personal Velocity"
"November"
"Open Water"
"Tape"
"Bamboozled"
"The Anniversary Party"
"Dancer in the Dark"
"The Celebration"
"Manic"
"Pieces of April"
"Chelsea Walls"
"Things Behind the Sun"

And, even though they probably aren't what you're looking for:

"Timecode"
"Full Frontal"

Those are all I can think of at the moment.
I'm sure I'll come up with more as soon as I hit the 'post' button.

Can't remember who it was here who originally recommended PERSONAL VELOCITY but if for nothing else then the DP commentary on the disk it is worth the price (especially if you get it used off someplace like eBay or Half.com).

Their use of contrast filters and smoke defusion is great. Highly recommended.

Don't forget "Charlotte Sometimes"

Gorgeous film that really shows how proper lighting and good framing and more important than anything good story and acting can make any format look good.

The website has some decent info on how they did it as well.

Waking Life

Shot with dv, but entirely animated over.

Julien Donkey-Boy

One of the best dv-shot films known to me, if not the best.

"the Fast Runner" was digiBeta, not DV.
