I have a few questions for anyone who has used the Sony PVM-9L3 monitor.
1. How does it connect to the DVX? Composite or S-Video?
2. Is there a way to power it in the field besides the sony B series or Anton Bauer batteries? Since the monitor costs a grand as it is, I don't have another thousand to spend on batteries and a charger for it.
Thanks

That's the portable one I have. It has standard BNC composite connectors as well as S video inputs. It can use the NP type batteries, but I've never had occasion to use battery power, just the AC. I suppose if you do a lot of shooting in areas where there's no power, some batteries and charger might be useful. On occasions where I've needed it on an outdoor shoot, I just use a voltage inverter (you can buy at any auto parts section of a Target store, auto parts store, etc. , for under a hundred bucks) in my car and plug it in there. You can't really see much when you're outside in bright light anyway, so you always put it in the trunk of a car or someplace like that. It's an excellent monitor and is sort of considered the industry standard around here.

Deniz,
Mine also has the standard 4 pin XLR power connector. That frees you up to use pretty much any 12vdc power source. You could lug along a car battery if you choose! Just get a Male 4 pin XLR and adapt it to what every power source you want to use.

I finally picked up the monitor and decided to go with a power inverter and a couple of jump boxes as batteries. I purchased a Vector 400w inverter. Someone told me I could blow my monitor if I use the wrong type of inverter. Will a 400w inverter work?
Bill, Which inverter do you use with the 9L3?
Thanks

I've used a 400 watt one and a 700 watt also, depending on which one was available at the time.

Did you have any trouble with the 400w?
