I'm trying to find a schoeps like mic that I can use for dialog or ambience. There are times when you don't want to put a $1400 mic in harms way orwhen the humidity is up and the schoeps won't work.

i'm looking at bothe the blue line (electret) and the ULS (condenser) i had tried to record a test but the recorder setup was wrong and i'll have to do a repeat.

It seemed that the supposed ultra quiet c480B has some self noise. like I say i'm going back for a second look.

Any experience with either system. i'd be interested in either the

CK61/63/68 with the c300b
or
the C480B and the CK91/93/94 and 98

Sorry Bryan, no experience with either. Have a friend that swears by Blue Line stuff, but nothing I've worked with....
Sorry!

Beas, with some of the mics you're getting into now you're in the top 1% of sound-quality... I know this is what you were going for, but the down-side is that you just won't find too many people around these forums that can comment on this stuff. Now I see why you spend so much time on RAMPS.

I know that I appreciate your reports on these great mics and gear so keep it coming...

Right now I'm trying to decide between the AKG's you're asking about and either a CS1 or 416.

That's a tough call. The CS1 would be handy indoors. I'll do a series of samples for you with the MKH60. With the high pass off and the presence peak switched on the sound is pretty much the same.
