Hi. I've connected a Sony HVR-M15 HDV tape deck to my pc, via firewire.
Then fired up Vegas 9.0 with the intention of capturing HDV footage from tape, using this cassette tape deck.
But it seems Vegas is not recognizing the device. The capture screen says "Device not available".
Anyone have a clue?

I did a search on the Sony Vegas forum and the only suggestions I could find were to be sure you have the deck in HDV mode and to try HDVSplit (http://strony.aster.pl/paviko/hdvsplit.htm) as a capture utility.

Adi try it as u'd capture sd footage. If it recognize for SD u have to change settings on the menus of the deck.
Or...i hope no, u have to change the firewire cable(happened twice 2 me).Let us know!

hi!
sorry i didn't post earlier that problem is solved. Mike, you were right. the deck was set to dv mode, not hdv. i was told by the place that i rented it from that it would recognize the format automatically, but i guess they didn't realize it wasn't set on auto. so i hit the menu button and set it to hdv. all is good. thx!
