I've also used it to give a 'snap' pull focus. I'm filming a daisy in telephoto close-up and -zip- I'm then focused on the picnic makers in the distance and the daisy blurs. That's a great idea Boyd Ostroff August 13th, 2009, 12:14 PM Personally I don't trust any of the autofocus functions on the Z1 and always go with manual. Also (IIRC) the infinity setting does not work properly with a telephoto adaptor lens which I often use for performances. Vito DeFilippo August 13th, 2009, 08:37 PM What the heck is the "infinity button"? You mean when you manually focus to show the infinity icon on the LCD? Adam Gold August 13th, 2009, 09:57 PM The bottom position on the FOCUS slider switch. Top is AUTO, middle is MAN, bottom (spring-loaded; snaps back) is INFINITY. I've had this camera over three years and never noticed that. You learn something new everyday. Thanks, Adam! Boyd Ostroff August 14th, 2009, 05:08 PM That's a feature which dates all the way back to the VX-2000 on Sony cameras... probably even the VX-1000! Vito DeFilippo August 14th, 2009, 08:03 PM That's a feature which dates all the way back to the VX-2000 on Sony cameras... probably even the VX-1000! Doesn't say much for my powers of observation... And I've actually read the manual several times. Let's just say it's a feature I've never needed. Yeah, that's it! |
