Is the Azden SGM-2X the best shotgun mic for the money or is there something else I should be looking at. XLR connector preferable.

The AT835ST might be a good choice. http://www.audio-technica.com/ I'm not saying it's better, just, if you want to shop it might be one to consider. AT makes quality mics and I've used them very hard in the field and I've never been disapointed. Jeff Ron Transco July 18th, 2002, 10:27 AM Jeff - I see the AT835ST is a condenser mic requiring a 9 to 52 volts. I don't remember seeing any place that the MA-200 has a phantom power supply. How do you power your mic? Jeff Donald July 18th, 2002, 11:02 AM Woops, should have followed the link. I meant 835b, it uses an AA battery. Phantom power is do able but adds to the cost and weight. Studio 1 http://www.studio1productions.com/ makes an adapter with phantom power and so does Sound Devices http://www.sounddevices.com/index.html I use the Sound Devices MM 1 and couldn't be happier. But its real pricey gear. The AT835B may be a bit long, but is very good quality. Jeff |
