i have a tape that has been dubbed using regular RCA cables. i plan to digitize the tape onto DVD, will hooking your VCR's S-Video output make the image better?

Ed Smith June 3rd, 2004, 02:51 AM Hi Yi Fong Yu, Being that you originally recorded via RCA and you wish to output via s-video It should make it slightly better, but you will probably not notice any differences, unless you look under a microscope. Reason being that rather than sending the signal down the RCA, which is a mixed signal, you'll be splitting it off in to luminance and chroma (Y/C), which should give a slightly better picture. So, the quick answer is; the DVD quality should not be any worse than your dubbed VHS. cheers, Rob Lohman June 3rd, 2004, 05:21 AM I want to add that if you can go s-video then do it with s-video. This will let a lot less external influences work on the signal. In your case it will probably don't matter much, but go with the best connection you have!
