Hey, Belkin just released an add-on to the ipod which allows you to connect and record an external mic into an ipod through an eight jack. I was wondering what kind of sound this would record and if it would be good enough to use in a video. The site says it records 16 bit audio at 8kHz. Thanks for all your help.

The 8 kHz is only suitable for note taking. Voice and music would be of too low a quality for even low grade video production.

fyi ... i have an iRiver ihp-120 and record at 16 bit either 44.1 or 48khz. helps to use an external preamp between the mic and the iriver. if you want the BEST sound, i've used the mic2496 with excellent results. the mic2496 outputs an optical signal that the iRiver records beautifully.

Hey, this is cool. I am betting that for those places where I need my camera on high (with a crowd inbetween myself and the subject), I could put my AT835ST attached to the Beachtec DXA-8 into this puppy and rock! A little gaffer's tape and am ready to go.
