Actually I very rarely say "howdy" ... :-)
I am a software engineer and CTO of a small "dot com" (yeah, a few of us are still here!)
In my free time (not much, what with three small children running around) I have shot and edited a number of 3- to 6-minute short.
Several of them are "home" videos (aggressively edited to avoid boredom :-), but most of them have been for my church, including a very well-received "Crocodile Hunter" parody that involved barging into an elders meeting and (later) tackling a church member in the mud.
I use a Canon ZR40 (haven't been able to afford a DVX100 yet ...) and Ulead's MediaStudio Pro.
I've built my own boom mic stand and a light stand from PVC pipe, among other things. Being on a very low budget, I'm always looking around for "cheap tricks."
Cheers!
