How do i get sound from a md recorder into a g4 laptop? My laptop does not have an input other than a firewire and usb, but the out on the md is 1/8 inch like a headphone jack. Any help would be greatly appreceated. Thank you.

The cheapest solution would be a Griffin iMic. Its around $40 and has 1/8 miniplug in and out and connects thru USB. Its also very small and portable and does not need external power.

What model do you have? All G4 PowerBooks built after April of 2002 have a sound in jack.

For those all you need is a 1/8" jack (both ends) stereo cable.

I'm not familiar with the Mac, but wouldn't the line in be an analog connection? If you want to stay digital I would think you would either want to be able to access the MD as a hard drive and copy the files over (I know some MD recorders have that feature) or add an external digital audio box on to the G4 connecting through USB or firewire. (Edirol makes several varieites of these - some quite easy to carry around.)

donny is talking about using the headphone jack, which certainly is analog. His recorder may not have a digital out, but digital would be preferred on a quality basis.
