Is the gs400 bigger then gs100 and dv953 because the lens is bigger and ccds is bigger?
View Full Version : is gs400 bigger? Tom E Young May 14th, 2004, 05:06 PM Is the gs400 bigger then gs100 and dv953 because the lens is bigger and ccds is bigger? Allan Rejoso May 14th, 2004, 05:19 PM GS100: 76 x 84 x 167, 650grams w/o batt, 750/ batt MX5000: 75 x 91 x 179, 750 grams w/o batt, 940 w/ batt Frank Granovski May 15th, 2004, 03:58 AM I don't think that anyone has seen the GS400's full specs which should include the measurements, so that question about size can't be answered. Allan Rejoso May 15th, 2004, 05:05 AM The dimensions 81 x 80 x 178 (700 grams) are written in the GS400 specs posted by Joby at Guy's site, so I thought it should be obvious which is bigger than which :-)) Nick Kerpchar May 15th, 2004, 07:27 AM So putting it all together with information contained in this thread here is the answer to Tom's questions: GS100: 76 x 84 x 167, 650grams w/o batt, 750/ batt MX5000: 75 x 91 x 179, 750 grams w/o batt, 940 w/ batt GS400: 81 x 80 x 178, 700 grams (not known if this is with or without battery) It would appear, in my humble opinion, that according to the information available, the GS400 at the very least is heavier and larger than the GS100. And, it is larger but lighter than the MX5000. This is possibly all without battery for the GS400. Hope this helps. Allan Rejoso May 15th, 2004, 09:17 AM That weight is most likely without battery and tape, because, there are usually 3 choices of Pany on-cam batteries available for each cam model. The given weights with batts of the MX5K and GS100 are based on the batteries supplied with the cam. George Beck May 15th, 2004, 09:24 AM it says: Weight (w/o Battery) 700g... maybe you all need glasses =) Nick Kerpchar May 16th, 2004, 06:21 AM George wrote: >it says: Weight (w/o Battery) 700g...< What is the source, "it" ? George Beck May 16th, 2004, 09:46 AM goto the specs thread and you'll see where the verifications/specs come from. (the same place the info most of you were talking about here came from) here's the file posted on Guy's web-page http://fortvir.net/modules.php?set_albumName=album21&id=pic06334&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php Frank Granovski May 16th, 2004, 06:18 PM The weight has little to do with the size. :-)) Tom E Young May 16th, 2004, 06:48 PM The gs400 is bigger then the bigger mx5000? It has to be because it has bigger ccds and a bigger lens. Frank Granovski May 16th, 2004, 06:54 PM According to George's specs, the GS500 is fatter than the MX5000/PV-DV953. Note: fatter is bigger. |
