I am interested in purchasing the adapter. However I am worried that I would only get about a years use out of it before DV is extinct. Will the lower priced HDV cameras be 1/3 chip? Will this adapter be future upgradable? Thanks for any advise or comments along these lines.

Disclaimer: I haven't worked with the adapter, so my reply is from
what I understand how it works.
I think it only works with 1/3" CCD. But that doesn't have to be
a problem, ofcourse. Depending on what you do and how soon
YOU would BUY a new camera with larger chips. Even if they
where coming out in consumer cams shortly (which I doubt) it
will still be quite expensive to buy. You can ofcourse always sell
the system to someone who hasn't upgraded yet...
But then again, who knows what happens in the future. Perhaps
it would be better to rent instead of buy?

I have used it, and I can't imagine a reason why it wouldn't work with cameras of ANY chip size.
The mini35 focuses an image onto a 24x18 piece of ground glass. All you need is an adapter that will fit on your camera that lets you focus clearly and sharply on that piece of ground glass, filling the full frame. It wouldn't matter if they were 2/3" chips, 1/3" chips, 1/6" chips... doesn't matter. Just fill the frame with that ground glass, and you'll be good to go.

If the adapter can be used with any size chip why the PRO?

Er... so they can charge $27,000 for it? :)
