Just wondering if I am the sole "soul" shooter on this forum (hopefully not)....I shoot purely for self projects- anything I find interesting I shoot (usually animals but not limited to)......do you guys find yourselves pointing your XL's (or whatever DV cam u guys are using) and just collecting odd bits in time of things that seem interesting- sorta a "footage collector" so to speak....alot of people see me with an XL and ask, "what are you shooting" and I really have NO answer- just shooting something that seems interesting at the time....do you guys find yourselves doing the same- or am I just an odd-ball holding an XL with the 'record' button on?

I have nonsense footage of a full moon, a cardinal, my sun conure, and if it ever stops raining, a sunrise. Yep... you be the only nut in the tree ;)

I'm using a Canon Powershot S200 digital still camera to continuously photograph geckos on my office window several nights per week. My wife thinks I'm nuts, but I'm looking for that one perfect gecko picture. Haven't made it yet; still trying. Must have 60 or 70 gecko images so far.

I live across the street from a jump school and every so often I'll take the XL1 out and shoot the Super Otter taking off and landing, and the sky filled with parachutes. Just a fun thing to do, over and over again.

Chris,
Try using an UV light. A lot of critters will show more color with UV.

Steve, because of my job, I find myself shooting a lot of footage of electronic and printed circuit board repairs that may or may not be used in our training videos. Jim

I should show my wife this thread. She thinks I'm a total whack-job. Although, this topic notwithstanding, perhaps she's right.

Happy Shooting,
