Hi.

I'm looking through all these posts in this forum to find something that could answer my question about lighting a scene so it gets that nice/warm and Not-Home video look.

I bought a book called Painting with light. They refer the key light to a burning bush and the fill and backlight hasn't been invented yet... In other words: A very old and not so good book :)

If you know of a website, book or some other place to find some information about lighting a scene so it looks cinematic please reply on this post.

you should check out my website under the Tutorials>Lighting section. The Lighting 101 and 201 series is a good start.

Follow that up with John Jackman's lighting for DV book.

And then follow that up with the DV Enlightenment DVD from DVCreators.net

Thank you so much.

That was exactly the answer I was looking for. I will check out your tutorial and buy the book/dvd.

I hope that will satisfy me :)

Thanks again...

Hi again.

About the book. Is this the one you are talking about?:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1578201152/qid=1083100934/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-5771512-6390243?v=glance&s=books

I get a lot of hits at amazon.com so just to be sure...

Thanks...

Stephen,

Can you give us your opinion of the DV Enlightenment DVD? You're recommending it, so you obviously think it's worth the money (or at least you like it), but can you give us an overview of what you think the DVD does well, where you think it might be lacking, and where you would rank it compared to other $75-$100 lighting DVDs?

Thank you for any insight you can provide.

I have just finished posting my review of the DVCreators.net DVD. You can find the link on the front page of my site.

Cheers!
