Reggie Moser August 6th, 2009, 11:50 AM When transcoding ACCHD clips that are around 5 mins or longer the transcode is unsuccesful. error file"not a quicktime movie" I'm running final cut pro 6.0 on a 2.66ghz Intel Mac Pro Dual processor... Any help appreciated
Thanks,
Reggie
Craig Davidson August 6th, 2009, 02:40 PM Is that error after the transcode? What version of NeoScene do you have?
Reggie Moser August 7th, 2009, 08:33 AM Yes the error is after the transcode and cineform sent me the latest version 1.0.7, but I'm still having the same issue.
Craig Davidson August 7th, 2009, 11:27 AM The latest version is 1.0.9b16 posted last week. It sounds like the conversion is stopping for some reason and never writing the file.
What is the camera source?
Chris Barcellos August 7th, 2009, 12:01 PM We detected an issue with synching, and David's group attacked and resolved the problem in another thread yesterday, and posted a temporary download link for the fix. Not sure if this is your fix, but here is post:
"Here is early access to what we currently think is the next release version:
Neo Scene : http://www.cineform.com/downloads/Ne...121-090806.zip
Neo HD : http://www.cineform.com/downloads/Ne...217-090723.zip
The rest to follow tomorrow. "

David Newman August 7th, 2009, 12:04 PM Chris, Reggie is on a Mac, so it is a different issue.
Reggie Moser August 7th, 2009, 12:19 PM I'm using a Canon HF S10
Chris Barcellos August 7th, 2009, 12:22 PM Okay, sorry....
Reggie Moser August 7th, 2009, 12:26 PM Here's the interesting thing....I've been chosen to beta test ClipWrap 2.0 and it does exactly the same thing when trying to transcode clips that are 5 minutes or longer..... If I choose the Rewrap(don't alter video samples) output format it works perfectly giving me H.264 files which you guys know is hard to edit.
David Newman August 7th, 2009, 12:29 PM Sounds like we will need a 5+ minute file from you. Can you please upload one to ftp://ftp.cineform.com/pub/incoming/
Thanks
Reggie Moser August 7th, 2009, 12:43 PM David I have clicked on the link what are the steps to upload the file?
David Newman August 7th, 2009, 12:53 PM On a PC you just copy that into the address bar of a file Explorer window and drag your files into it. On a Mac (as shipped) you have use a shell and ftp command. Doesn't that seem backward? The fact that you are asking means you likely don't want to use the shell.
You will want a tool like:
FileZilla - Client Download (http://filezilla-project.org/download.php)
Cyberduck | FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, Cloud Files & Amazon S3 Browser for Mac OS X | (http://cyberduck.ch/)
Fetch Softworks (http://fetchsoftworks.com/)
I just searched on "Free FTP Client for Mac OS X"
Reggie Moser August 7th, 2009, 01:04 PM I've downloaded FileZilla but not quite sure I know what I'm doing...lol It shows Local site and in that field I entered: ftp://ftp.cineform.com/pub/incoming/ not sure where to upload file
David Newman August 7th, 2009, 01:34 PM ftp://ftp.cineform.com/pub/incoming/ is the correct location to upload to, simply drag or transfer files into that location. You will not see the contents of that direct, it is write only for security.
Reggie Moser August 9th, 2009, 01:41 AM David I uploaded a test.mts file.
Thanks
Craig Davidson August 10th, 2009, 02:04 PM Here's the interesting thing....I've been chosen to beta test ClipWrap 2.0 and it does exactly the same thing when trying to transcode clips that are 5 minutes or longer..... If I choose the Rewrap(don't alter video samples) output format it works perfectly giving me H.264 files which you guys know is hard to edit.
Does NeoScene transcode from the re-wrapped H.264 file? When transcoding from a QuickTime wrapped H.264, NeoScene relies on the system default QuickTime H.264 decoder.
Craig Davidson August 10th, 2009, 09:16 PM The file converted as a roughly 4:10 clip. How long was the original? The QT movie is large, but does play, so 'normal' end of movie was detected.
I am using ReMaster 2.3.16.102
Craig Davidson August 11th, 2009, 11:21 AM The file created after converting is close to 4GB. What quality are you using for the encode? How much space do you have on the destination disk, and is it a standard Mac volume?
Reggie Moser August 11th, 2009, 08:05 PM I finally figured out the problem.........I was saving the files to an external harddrive via firewire...I finally just copied the MTS files I was having trouble with to my main harddrive in the computer and saved the transcoded mov files on the main as well......I assume with clips longer than 5 minutes the data wasn't being written fast enough to the external drive.........
Craig Davidson August 12th, 2009, 04:09 PM Speed is not an issue in disk to disk conversion. External drives are by default formatted as FAT32, since all Mac and Windows machines can read and write that format. Files on FAT32 drives are limited to 4GBytes. If you try to write a file beyond 4GB, it fails.
If your external drive is only being used on a Mac, you should reformat it as a Mac OS Extended format for performance reasons.
Reggie Moser August 12th, 2009, 04:19 PM Thanks Craig....That can be done thru disk utilities, correct?
Craig Davidson August 12th, 2009, 07:37 PM Yes, DiskUtilities.
