Hi everyone,

I love to film with wideangle - I always did when I worked with my good old
Blaupunkt HI8 camcorder - but I have not enough money to buy an wideangle
lense for Canon XL1s, right now -- My question: how good are widelens converters, is there
a huge difference ?? ... would it be a good decision to buy a widelens
converter or should I wait till I have the money to by a real
widelens -- sorry dunno whether I made myself clear, my english is by far
not the best ?

thanks a lot for the help

The wide angle converters and adapters are lower cost than the wide angle lens, but do add weight to the front of the camcorder/lens. Users like the Cnaon 3x as well. The only downside is the somewhat limited zoom range.

The Century Optics products are good. At about 1/3 the price there is a 0.6x partial thorugh (which I have and like) and at about 1/2 the cost a full zoom through 0.7x and they can work with both he manual and standard lenses. Full zoom through gives a good range of operation without changing lenses or adapter.

With lenses price is usually a reasonable indicator of optical quality.

If you need wide angle now, buy it now. If not then wait as necessary to buy what makes you feel good.
