I'm looking for a boompole/on camera shockmount solution for my me64 and me66. Anyone have any experience w/ the at8415 shockmount using an me64 and me66 w/ either a softie or lightwave equalizer? From what I hear, the me66 w/ softie maybe to heavy for the at8415. What if i go w/ the k-tek k-sus bands? Will this help in handling the me66 weight w/ softie? If attached on a dvx100, will the at8415/me66 be out of the frame at it's widest angle? Rycote softie vs. lightwave equalizer...is there a difference/preference? Any cheaper solution for wind protection? Thank you for any comments and suggestions!

I use the lightwave minimount for my ME66 also the Lightwave EQ. The EQ is well made and does an excellent job.The one thing I dont like about the minimount is you need to really crank down on the shoe fasteners because the weight of the mic and EQ will loosen when moving your cam around. The minimount is well built and does a great job of handling and motor noise when on cam . I attached a shoe mount on the end of a painters pole for a cheap boom. This works ok but for long shoots or heavy duty use I would suggest an alternative for boom pole use. Lightwave makes a boom pole attachment that will simply screw on to the minimount as well.

I use the k-tec with an ME66/64 K6 setup. Works well. I have the lighter rubber mounts.

That said, the $55 PSC mount would probably work as well.

The k6 is long and gives lots of mounting options. So the fur really is never in the way.

I use an ME66 with AT8415 with the KTEK deluxe bands with a Rycote mini-windjammer and Sennheiser foam sock. I've found the mount with the KTEK bands are fine, but the original bands that come with it aren't - the unit is too heavy and unstable.

Hey Aaron, where do you get the "deluxe" bands? I ask because I just got the AT8415 to use on my Gitzo with an ME66/64 set up and your "the unit is too heavy and unstable" comment got my attention.

If you don't receive your improved bands in time, you can still use the stock 8415 with longer mics like the ME66 by "criss-crossing" the horizontal bands at both front and back as you insert the mic.
