As I am a Digital Videographer/Editor I am planning to make a documentary film, The budget for my film is very very less. Although I have the Canon XL1s with 16x auto lens , I am facing a lot of problems with lens. Let me tell you one example. When i am shooting a wedding. If I zoom to a particular point it works well and when I come back to original position.. It stops 2 to 3 times inbetween., This lens is not at all suitable for wide angle. If i use 3x lens , the zoom range is less, As I shoot outside shots I need the frames should be wide and long distances. Thats the reason i am asking for the better lens. Is it not possible to shoot a film with EOS Lens. What do you say about it. Anyway thanx for your reply

Why is the smaller zoom range on the 3x a problem? You put that
lens on when you want a wider angle of view. If you want to go
beyond that than simply hook up the 16x lense or one of the
manual lenses.
It would help us if you tell us what kind of things you do with
your camera. Do you make fictional movies or shoot news, etc.
With fictional work almost no-one uses the zoom during an
actual take etc.

Hi Vamshi...
I had similar problems with the stock lens. To solve it, I got the 16x manual lens and fitted it with a Century 0.7x wide angle adapter.
It's a great combination, the focus problems are a thing of the past, and the image quality is very good.

hi dean
Thanx for the messages. Its the better option to go with century optics, I decided now to go with manual lens with century .7x wide lens. I have already 72 mm polarized filter , does it fit to this century optics.if so how about the quality of the image. Please kindly let me know.

Look at the specifications of the centry wa adapter and see if it
takes 72mm filters or not. The wider the lens the more easy you
will see filters attached (vignetting).
