The only regret in life I have is not buying the Optura PI. I was suffering from Wer die Wahl hat, hat die Qual at the time. It's a common ailment afflicting cam buyers.

Frank Granovski April 13th, 2004, 12:30 AM :-) Ted Springer April 13th, 2004, 01:37 AM That camera sucks. You're better off just using a Hi8 or maybe VHS-C camcorder and just grabbing frames from that. Frank Granovski April 13th, 2004, 01:43 AM But the Optura PI doesn't suck low light, plus it has a pro-scan CCD and an OIS to boot. Nothing to snort at, that's for sure. :-)) Ted Springer April 13th, 2004, 02:45 AM Dude. I'm telling you... you're waaaaay better off with a second or third generation frame grab from a VHS-C tape recorded in EP or SLP mode with tracking problems and a dirty head... with JPEG compression set to "0", recompressed 6 times over. Frank Granovski April 13th, 2004, 03:08 AM Did those analog cams come in the PI size? Didn't think so. :-)) Note: this thread is not intended for pixel-peeping nit-pickers. For serious pixel-peeping see the TRV950 forum and the MX forum. Thank you. Ted Springer April 13th, 2004, 04:03 PM Are you saying you have a problem with shoulder mounted tube cameras??????????????????? I don't see how an Optura PI could possibly compete with the dual camera/recorders of the 70's. Frank Granovski April 13th, 2004, 07:16 PM Did they have progressive scan? Or a beautiful 12X F1.6 Canon lens? :-)) James Sudik April 13th, 2004, 10:08 PM One word. Brownie. Ted Springer April 13th, 2004, 11:12 PM They didn't need that, Frank. Older is always better. Change is bad. And scary! Great. Now I won't be able to sleep tonight! Frank Granovski April 14th, 2004, 12:37 AM You must be a baby boomer like me. :-)) I use Gravol when I have to sleep but can't. :-)) |
