Thanks,

Thanks, CJ Battle Vaughan July 23rd, 2009, 04:43 PM I don't know the answer for every editing system, but many operate on knowing when the camera starts and stops. Some consumer cameras that don't use SMPTE code use a time-of-day code and iirc there are some consumer programs that recognize that ---I believe Pennicle is one, but I'm pulling that out of my failing memory..../Battle Vaughan/miamiherald.com video team PS: broken time code is actually a bad thing, it will mess up capture if you have conflicting time codes on the same tape.... Adam Gold July 23rd, 2009, 06:57 PM ...how does my editing program split each scene/clip? Battle's right. For DV it uses date/time, not timecode. For HDV (where scene detect is not always available) it uses analysis of the picture in the frame, which is why it doesn't usually work very well. Caleb Royer July 24th, 2009, 06:23 AM I am using an XL2 and Premier Elements 7, does that help some. Adam Gold July 24th, 2009, 12:46 PM An XL2 is DV, so any program should do scene detect/split just fine. Caleb Royer July 24th, 2009, 04:13 PM Thanks a lot for the info all (: |
