We are about to start using a Canon 5D Mk2 on a new project and I'm trying to figure out
what versions of different software to use, based mostly on current Cineform support.

I've been reading around the boards and there seem to be a number of problematic combinations of Windows/Premiere/Cineform.

I'm currently testing Windows 7 RC1 64, have been quite pleased, and would rather use it than XP.
Our NLE will be either Premiere CS3 or CS4 depending on software support.

In the past we've used Cineform Aspect HD, so we will need to update to something take advantage of the new tools for converting 5D files.

Anyway, I'd appreciate any thoughts or recommendations.

Thanks,

David

Win 7 and CS4 + CioneForm seems to work fine. If it the CS3 RT engine that need work for Win 7.

Best idea is download and try it out.

Ok, I got my camera, installed the demo for ProspectHD4.08 build 217, and converted some 5D files to AVI Cineform (which seemed to work fine).
But when I try to take it into Premiere I can't find either any presets for a Cineform project or a playback mode for Cineform, which leads me to believe that the RT engine is simply not present at present. Cineform files dropped into the timeline appear as needing to be rendered (red at the top)

Am I doing something wrong, or is this all as it should be?
If the RTE is not yet available for CS4/Win7.64 is there a guestemate on when it might be?

Thanks, and keep up the good work!

If you are running Adobe CS4 then there are no cineform presets... you have to set one up and save it so you can use it over and over again...

My understanding is Cineform will include the presets after they get the issues resolved with the real time engine.

Ray: Ok, that's kind of what I figured.

Does CS3 and Cineform have the realtime engine? It sounds like it does.

Do we have (I know programmers hate it when people ask this) any idea when the engine might be ready for Win7.64 and CS4?
Thanks

Yes CS3 has RT in it.. and all presets...

Lots of folks have asked about the CS4 update... Cineform is working it.. they say
they are closing in and should be pretty quick... no dates as of yet though
