After having my mic holder snap in the middle of an event I was shooting I decided to replace it with a sturdier solution. I went for DM Accessories EX-FLAT and a K-TEK suspension mount.

I'm really pleased with the result and it gives me a more flexible set of mounting options should I want to use a wireless receiver at the same time as an on camera light etc.
