What is the latest version of firmware for the EX1, when was it released and what did it address?

By the way, how do I check which version I currently have?

I heard it's firmware 1.13

I am running firmware 1.11

You can check the firmware on the EX1 by pressing and holding down Menu, the Select Thumb Wheel, and Cancel at the same time to enable the service menus. Scroll down to the “IF” (Information) menu, and check the firmware Version #. Turn the camera off to disable the service menus (Be very careful you don't change any of the settings).

Just don't get too hung up on having the latest firmware in your camera. We went to the trouble and expense of getting all our EX1s and 3s updated only to discover that the latest set of updates only affect "NTSC" cameras.

Let me explain this as it might not make a lot of sense. If your camera was setup at the factory as a Region60 (NTSC) camera then after a Reset All, Flicker Reduction will be set to Off.
If your camera was setup at the factory as a Region50 camera (PAL) then after a Reset All, Flicker Reduction will still be set to Auto.

Thanks for that Bob.

I was about to get my two cameras done, as I read somewhere that the start up time had been reduced to about 5 secs, very handy for R &G situations.

Can yo tell me whether this is right?

Cheers,

Vaughan

I don't have my EX1 with me at the moment to really check this but I didn't notice it was any faster. To say for certain I'd have to time it and it could be a day or two before I can my hands back on my camera. If no one else with a "PAL" EX1 chimes in I'll let you know as soon as I can.

If it helps - my EX1 running firmware 1.05 takes 8.5 seconds to power up into camera mode, then switching from camera to media mode takes 14.5 seconds!

Far too long in my opinion... Can anyone confirm that newer firmware take less time?

By the way - I'm a PAL area EX1 owner.

Gee Ben,

You must have the supercharged version!

Just checked one of mine 9.17 start-up and 15.03 secs to change to replay mode.

I really wonder how a still photographer would react to those start times!!!!!

I wonder how they react to the fact that we can shoot 60fps for 2 hours straight on $85 worth of media with no card swapping.

I think this is a good test. Thank you for bringing it up. Here are my times.

1.11
From switch in off position
8 seconds to cam mode power up
13 seconds to media mode power up
