Hi,
I'm using a Sony DSR 450 and noticed that it doesn't give out a tone when I record coloured bars. Is this not a feature on this camera? There's probably a setting I'm missing, any help finding it would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I use the 570, the 450's immediate predecessor... If you go into the menus, you have the choice of tone or no tone with the bars.

Yeah, i've been through the menus and the manual, and its just not as obvious as it should be. I can change the type of bars but seemingly nothing about the tone. it must be there somewhere...

Have you switched the Channel Selector to Internal (or whatever the "nose" mic is called)?

not sure what or where that would be.
i've tried flicking between rear and front mics, which afected tone on our DSR 500, but that doesn't help on this model.

All right. Downloaded the owners manual PDF. It's a menu item.
Under AUDIO
AU SG(1KHz) is what you want to turn on. See attached.

That worked!
Thank you very much for going out of your way to find that. I appreciate it.
