I don't know if you have been using it, but I recommend buy to Cineform's NeoScene as an intermediate codec. Will make your editing experience much more enjoyable.

Hugh:

No, I convert all files to NeoScenes .avi file. Very sweet process.

Hugh,

I just did the same thing myself and did upgrade to NeoScene. I think the upgrade is $69. Transfer the files from the camera (or card reader) to your hard drive and then convert to .avi as Chris suggests thru Neo. It does work well and the images are amazing.

This was my first time using it at a family wedding. I was also using an HV30. In fact I wasn't even going to bring the 5d. But I started playing around with it at the reception, and soon (read - immediately) fell in love with it. This was shot handheld using a Canon 50mm f1.4. The lighting was kind of muddy between Tungsten overheads and a wall of windows, but I was blown away by the camera, and cutting the .avi in Vegas 8.0c was a snap. I just slapped some shots together in Vegas here.
