Hi-
I'm new to the group and just purchased an EX3 which should be arriving in the next week or two! I've been lurking in the discussions and have learned much from reviewing everyone's comments. Thanks for the great comments!
The question- I'm unable to upgrade my current NLE- Premiere Pro 1.5 on the PC until next year, but I already have a paying gig for the EX3, to be delivered in SD (DVD- Not broadcast). Some separate threads have already suggested preferred shooting formats when outputting to SD (although I welcome your thoughts again- especially if it effects the way I get the footage into the NLE), but does anyone have "an ideal" way to digitize the media from the camera into such an outdated NLE for the time being? (I have an old Canopus Storm card capable of firewire, composite and S-Video only.) This doesn't have to happen in real time.
From the threads I've read, it sounds like an SDI-SD downconverter is the best solution. If so, which one is the best?
I've read that the composite monitor out of the camera isn't "good enough", but will work. I'll need audio digitized as well. I'd hate to invest in a downconverter especially once I get a new system next year.
From what I've read, Clip Browser will convert it to DV. Could this work in the place of the down converter? Is the quality good enough?
I don't think my PC can handle HDV (at least Premiere 1.5 doesn't), which is all firewire out of the camera supports, corrrect?
Thanks in advance!
