Last week I shot footage for a local car dealership. In this case the footage has always been edited by another company. That production company owns a Sony EX-1. Their editor spends 95% of his life editing footage shot with that EX-1. After the editor had downloaded my footage, I called to make sure everything went all right and I asked him how the footage looked. His response: "Oh man, your footage looks great. That camera is awesome." It made me feel pretty good. I thought I would share that with you.

It's not just the camera, you have to know what to do with it.

Well, yes that is true. And his compliment did make me feel good on a couple of levels. But their shooter is one of the best DP's I have ever had the pleasure of working with. So that editor has seen lots of good work before. If you watch Nat Geo or Discovery you have probably seen their photog's work.

It's always great to hear good things about your work from peers or people you have respect for. It's confirmation of the quality of work you're putting out.

BTW, the only reason I posted this was because I felt it was a strong compliment to the camera's capabilities and potential, not as an opportunity to fish for compliments for me. As you Z7 faithful probably already know, the Z7 is an terrific piece of gear.

I agree, Z7 is one of our best assets.
The image, controls...the performance is just awesome. Oh yeah, cheap CF card! It's actually my first taste of HD and a total memory based workflow. I mean we have Firestore but i used to still run it with a tape. We have it for just a few months now.
cheers!
