Hi DVinfo,
Some time ago I posted an ad asking if Canon DV filmmakers were interest to meet. Until now I have been searching for websites, forums, groups, meetings where independent filmmakers could meet, exchange ideas, network but I have not succeeded.

I still think we need a place where Canon DV filmmakers can meet and discuss things concerning their Canon DV cameras, but why not expand and form an informal group of independent filmmakers e.g. Canon DV users, producers, DPs, sound mixers, grip, actors basically anybody who has an interest in independent film.

Drop me a line if you are interested to form an informal group where independent filmmakers can network and establish contacts and exchange ideas.

I have already posted this ad on a couple of other websites and have received great response. I am now trying to set a date and place.

Hope to hear from you soon.
Tom

How about getting together one night at DV Expo? Coming up in two weeks there in the city. It would be great to meet you guys.

I'll be there, or here, since I live in NYC, and plan to attend. Just name a date and time. The night of the 25th is good.

The night of the 25 sounds perfect. I still have to figure out about the tickets as I have ordered one online via dv.com (i think), but I am not sure if I just have to show up and present ID or what. Anyone?

I signed up via the Internet also. I believe you need to pickup your badge at the registration desk.

DV EXPO in NYC is this Tuesday and Wednesday (6-25&26) - is anyone still planning a get together? Tuesday evening was mentioned as a possibility.

I'm still for it, and I'm in the city right now (at the New York Hilton). Any idea where we could convene that's close to the Javitts Convention Center?

Sorry, I lost my place and couldn't find my way back to the message.

I don't know of any particular place but I'm sure there are plenty. Tuesday was the day I had hoped to be at the Expo but work has complicated matters. I can still get together after work if you, or anyone, manages to arrange a time and place. Wednesday is also good.

Thomas? Steve? Any suggestions?

I didn't even realize the Expo was today- how about we all meet by the Canon booth- Chris say a time and maybe everyone can meet there....or there's a few magazine vendors just outside the individual centers- we could meet there????

Chris welcome to NYC! (at least today is a little breezy...)

Sorry I didn't see these last few posts until today when I got home... web access at the show was sporadic. It was great to meet you guys at the booth. Next time we'll have some better planning for a night out together.

I'm coming back to Javits for MacWorld in July and would be up for meeting with any of you. Much respect,

I'm really sorry I wasn't able to attend any of the Expo. My pass gone to waste. Anything to report?

Let's see if July works out. I'm not a Mac person, but my son is and plans to go.

Hi Ozzie,

Anything to report? The new GL2 does *not* have the XL1S issue of missing lines along the bottom... it produces a *full* 720x480 image. How's that?

Hum... well, how IS that? I thought Canon has "chosen" to compromise. :-)

Chris,

It was excellent to meet you. All kinds of things to pick up and give a try. The GL2 is impressive.

The best to you regarding your documentary project we talked about.

Which reminds me, I am trying to remember the title of the documentary about the escape from Germany. "Outwitting Hitler" ?

Thanks!

Cheers!

Derrick

Hi Derrick,

Great to meet you too, that documentary is called "Outwitting Hitler" and it's a Showtime production. The guy who made it is Chris Ward, who hangs out here when he can. Hope that helps,
