DATAVIDEO ACQUIRES SILICON VALLEY HARD DISK VIDEO RECORDER MANUFACTURER NNOVIA
Acquisition brings new core technologies to Datavideo and highly complementary products will significantly increase Datavideo’s product offerings to the broadcast and professional video marketplace.
Taipei, Taiwan and San Jose, CA – April 16, 2009 – Datavideo Corporation, a leading manufacturer of professional video production and broadcast equipment, today announced the acquisition of San Jose based nNovia, Inc. nNovia designs and manufactures hard disk based video recorders for the broadcast and professional video market. The financial terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed, however Datavideo will acquire all assets and liabilities of nNovia.
The acquisition of nNovia by Datavideo will bring new hard disk and solid state disk (SSD) recording technology and know-how to Datavideo, which is viewed as core technology needed to support Datavideo’s product development plan in the growing market for disk-based video recording/playback.
The current nNovia product family will be immediately re-branded and folded into Datavideo’s product line. Datavideo will assume all product /customer support and warranty obligations of nNovia and will support nNovia customers from its Whittier, California location. The newly acquired products will be on display at Datavideo’s booth at the upcoming National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
nNovia’s San Jose office will be retained and a new company called Datavideo Silicon Valley Corporation will be formed to merge the legacy nNovia engineering team into Datavideo as a research and development team. The transaction will be completed within the month of April.
