One of my mates from here in Dunedin is currently in Vancouver training for the upcoming BC Bike Race:

BC Bike Race || a Seven Day Mountain Bike Stage Race from Vancouver to Whistler, BC, Canada (http://www.bcbikerace.com/)

His name is Tony Hogg and he's THE NZ Champion mountain bike racer.

The BC race is his prelude/ warm up to the World 24 Hour Solo championships later in July.

If anyone has some time and would enjoy getting some great action footage, I know he'd be stoked if you introduced yourself (think he'd be even more stoked to have some footage of him doing the biz).

He's currently staying at a Lodge in North Vancouver and can be contacted here:

If you're anywhere between Vancouver and Alberta he'll be passing your way, as he and his missus are campervan - ing it cross country to the main race.

Give him a hoi, hey, how many possible World Champs are you ever likely to meet?

I would be available, but ironically I have to leave for New York tomorrow...

I think I'd only probably ask him about Flight of the Conchords if I did go, then shoot.

Well... my parents started one of Canada's largest cycling magazines, so... lots actually. :)

I'd help him out but I'm in the middle of moving this month and am bogged down with quite a few other projects. Tell him good luck!

Good luck with the move!

BTW, as at the end of stage 2, Tony was in third place in the Solo riders field.

Stage 3 is finished but not posted (as I type) but there seems to be a rumour going around that he won it. If so he'd be up to second at least, I guess.

Late update: Yep, won it and is now second overall.
