I'm not sure if there's a thread for this or not, but I was curious to see if anyone here has tried filming anything using the new iPhone. It even let's you trim your clips right on the phone! I haven't had much of a chance to play around with it, but I could see some potential. I believe it films in standard def 4:3 with H.264. I've recorded a test video and the quality is on par with the movie mode of a still camera. I'm impressed, it's very nice for a cell phone.

I may be half informed but I read that the chipset can handle 720p but that it does not record it due to power consumption issues. I guess I will still carry my Flip Mino around.

That is just awesome! So apparently you can plug in an external microphone? You can't even do that with most standalone consumer cameras. Simply amazing.
Also, a news producer filmed a segment entirely on the iPhone.
