Does anybody in the Portland, OR area have a Zoom H4N that I can test this weekend?
For recorders, I'm testing the 5D Mark II with the current firmware and with some custom firmware that lets me turn off the automatic level control. I'm also testing the MicroTrack II recorder.
For preamps, I'm testing the BeachTek DXA-5D and the juicedLink CX231. I'll also test running the mic directly into the MicroTrack II.
It would be great to put the Zoom H4n into the mix. I plan to make a video production to describe the tests and show the results.
I'll calibrate the setups (to the degree that I'm able) and will mainly concentrate on finding which solution has the lowest noise. I'll also test dialog sound quality and the ability to pick up low level sounds.
If you'd like to participate, or simply loan me your H4n this weekend, contact me through DVInfo. (Click on my name at the left.)
Thanks in advance!
