I just got a Blackbird - very nice piece of kit but as soon as I put on the admittedly heavy (vs. weight of camera) wide angle adapter for my HV30 and the whole thing nose dives. Even with all the weights and extensions (which it make it ridiculously bottom heavy) still can't flatten it out.

I have the heaviest battery - no real other way to weight back of camera. I shoot 80% of everything with the WA and probably would 100% of stabilizer shots.

Progress - I mounted the camera plate hanging off the back of the unit by an inch and suddenly it reach a point of being able to now actually balance. So there is hope.

That did the trick - about half inch off the rear and it's working beautifully now with WA installed.

I would think you are saying that you moved the camera plate forward on the camera, not back, no? i.e. the camera now sits further back on the Blackbird.
