I shot a roof top gig a while back and I know that the edit is bang on in sync right off the time line. The source material is DVcam SD.

I'm exporting through QT conversion to an H.264, at 640 480 AAC 128 target rate, for speed. Should I using compressor for this, instead? Can anyone recommend compressor settings to rectify this, should I be switching on Frame controls as well?

The first 20secs when you get to see the drummer, to me feel slightly off sync. I can't quite fathom why this is happening.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Max it looked fine to me I don't know if you are on a PC or Mac but I use SuperC a freeware program for windows to do my conversions for Vimeo my main problems have been that Vimeo has changed the frame rate from 25fps to something like 23.6, just checked yours and it was doing 25fps so should be good.

Thank you for your response.

I've had complaints about from the band. Who are not happy with it.

They're saying that they have choppy playback and its not in sync. The time that I accessed the file I got the same result, although I am not sure if thats got anything to with access Vimeo at certain times of the day, I'm at a complete loss!

I spent some time yesterday examining the original edit and drumming is in sync off the time line. So I think its my encode for that instance that is causing the issue. I've dug out my presets using compressor for the original first batch of H.264 encodes. It just takes an age, frame controls on, for the render to occur.

Hopefully I can put a smile back on their chevy chases shortly.

Hi Max,
I let vimeo load completely before I tried to play it, I've not got a very fast broadband, but then it was spot on, I did a web capture as well just to see how vimeo had re-encoded it and could see no problems I used WebVideoCap.exe its a windows free ware program, and then looked at the .flv it captured in Womble Mpeg Video Wizard and it looked fine.

Wow! thanks for taking the time out to look at it mate.

I let the whole thing download and my connection is not the best either, at the point of 20 / 21 secs in the drummers down stroke, is still out of sync. This is contrary to the first video I uploaded for them before editorial changes etc which is still in sync. So I know its not my connection.

In actual fact I started rooting around in vimeo and there's more info about Compressor settings. I've gone back through the original settings and tweaked accordingly. Added the frame controls back in, so - as I am unfortunately, not running an 8 core, I'll just have to leave it on for about 17 hours and go do something constructive.
