View Full Version : Static Sound in FLV Audio

The last few videos I've produced for the web have had an static popping sound every second or two. I haven't changed my settings. Here is my workflow:

FCP to Quicktime Conversion
Test .mov file
Open Flash 8 Video Encoder to convert to .flv
Upload
Build HTML to embed

Here's a sample. You'll notice the popping. It sounds like something in my Encoder, but the settings are a 128kpbs data rate MP3, which has always been fine. Back in FCP I even use WAVs instead of MP3s for better quality. I'm stumped.

Your link to a sample didn't make it.

Yeah, I'm with you that the MP3 at that bitrate is pretty pedestrian and a very common inclusioin in an flv.

Is it possible that you've recently installed some software that included codecs, that might have corrupted or replaced your MP3 encoder codec? Sometimes, even hardware drivers can include new codecs.

If this sounds promising, you'd either need to roll back your system, or reinstall the right MP3 encoder codec - which might be coming from QT, or, included with a reinstall of Flash / FME.

Maybe.

That's an idea. I'll check.

This problem has been discussed here several times, it is likely caused by the resampling of a compessed file into another bitrate, if I recall correctly....might do a search here, I'm pulling this out of my memory.../Battle Vaughan/miamiherald.com video team

I'll look for it. I wasn't sure what key words to use, but if it's a bitrate resampling issue, that should get me there. Thanks.

I found that it was my export setting from FCP. Popping gone. Thanks guys.
