I need a super high speed video camera to film a knife stabbing scene.

Can anyone suggest:
1) how fast a frame rate do I need to get a nice clean gooey shot of something getting stabbed in slow motion?

2) what cameras would do this that I can get cheap?

I know a few of the still cameras out there have some insanely fast burst modes at lower resolutions, I just don't know which they are. One of these might work, as it doesn't have to be HD (it'll just be an insert clip for demonstration purposes).

Love to hear your thoughts, thanks!

1) No idea... but
2) most of the small Sony handycams of recent vintage have a short (3 seconds) high speed mode that then stretches to around 12 seconds. I believe the latest XR500 actually does this in HD resolution - it seemed better quality than earlier models, and scanning the instructions it looked like it could maintain the higher image quality, but I'll have to check it out to see for sure.

Thanks Dave , I'll check that one out.

I also found this, which does 300fps at nearly SD quality:
Casio Exilim Pro EX-F1 digital camera specifications: Digital Photography Review (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Casio/casio_exf1.asp)
Also does 1200fps at micro quality.
