View Full Version : nanoFlash Progress Update

We should complete our tests of the pre-production nanoFlash units this week. So far all the tests are extremely positive, we have only the analog audio I/O tests to wrap-up.

Power consumption is lower than expected, now measuring 5.6W during record and 4.9W during playback. I am expecting a further 0.3W reduction in record power with some additional code development.

The final production nanoFlash units now include battery voltage monitoring, RS-485 / RS-232 as well as analog audio I/O. We do expect to add pre-record buffer and possibly over/under-crank before we ship.

Currently we are waiting for a few last parts to arrive to begin production. I will post another update in a week or so with the status.

Hi there,

I am guessing there are a lot of excited NanoFlash owners-to-be keenly awaiting the first shipment of units! So, my question is - if I was to put in an order (I am based in Singapore so this would be through Image4D) - how long would I have to wait?

Reason I ask is that I am considering buying one for a doco shoot in China - etd in 3rd or 4th wk of June, so timing is tight...

Pls advise.

Many thanks,

Thanks for the reply Dan - bad for me, good for you :o)

How long would the wait be?

Chris

Dear Chris,

If you order now, we expect to be able to deliver in July.

But, parts availability can always derail our plans.

To elaborate: We can check with the manufacturers today, and the parts may be in stock, in quantities way more than we need. Tomorrow, there may be a parts shortage.

What kind of control will there be via the RS-232?

Hi Robert-
We are still working on the RS-232 command set and likely will publish late this summer. We are now working on GPS support via RS-232 to allow the nanoFlash internal clock to be very accurately set to GPS time and to record longitude and latitude information in the metadata.
