For AVCHD users, how are you dealing with the 4GB breaks in the video. I don't like the break in continuity.

Have you tried this?

I use Sony SR11 and XR500 and just use the Sony Motion Browser software to transfer files. It does it all for you. 2 hour files just show as one clip on the camera LCD and one clip on the computer, no limit. Have shot up to 3 hours and 10 mins on the XR500 and it came over as one file as I expected. I know the file structure is FAT 32 but this is totally masked on the Sony's if you use their software.

You can use a simple dos command to re-join the clips to reform the broken gop... example:

1. Copy all divided files in a specific folder on the NTFS drive(ex.
C:\AVCHD Temp)
2. If the divided files are 1000.mts, 1001.mts and 1002.mts, Run
"copy /b 1000.mts+1001.mts+1002.mts AVCHDfile.mts" via [Command Prompt].
3. Then divided files are merged into a single file (AVCHDfile.mts in
the example).

One of the things that V9 does right is merge those files using the Device Explorer.

It does it a bit wrong by putting them on the C: drive which I guess could be changed but I haven't taken the time to find that yet. Default drive set to another drive did not solve that.

Anyway, it worked for me.

The software PMB that came with my cams does it even better because it grabs all of the photos as well.

I would say more but got a very important project/shoot today. UN as in United Nations.

Wish me luck!

Quite correct.
Vegas's device explorer is now rigged to merge avchd clips before importing in order to complete the gop structure (new in version 9). Mind you this only works for avchd files..... still won't do it for ex files (MFX files)

Ron, I have been viewing various clips shot with the Sony hdr-xr500v and the footage I have seen is stunning.
