I don't know how long exactly this has been going on for, but it's been awhile. Every once in awhile, my monitor will "flicker." It's not a complete flicker, the only way I can explain it is if you have a TV that's almost losing reception. These small little horzontal lines appear down the screen, and skip around a bit, then disappear.

It feels like it should be electrical-related. I'm going to try it another house when I get around to it, but in the meantime does anybody have any insight as to what this could be?

Thanks!

What type of "monitor" are you writing about? A computer monitor or a production monitor?

It needs a trip to the repair shop. Monitors flickering are not a user adjustable fault.

Sorry, Ken.. it's a computer monitor. Got it in '98.

Jeff, do you think it would be more worth buying a new monitor than repairing this one?

the phosphors on a six year old monitor probably aren't accurate. If your using it for critical color work (especially still) I would get a new monitor. If it's just a game machine or used for surfing the web it doesn't matter.

Interesting point.. I do a lot of still work, not critical per-se but I should probably get a new monitor eventually. I've been holding out for a nice LCD monitor that doesn't look like crap!
