Recently ordered Vegas 8 from the videoguys.com which promised to include a free upgrade to Vegas 9. Apparently, I'm suppose to contact Sony Vegas Tech support for the download link to Vegas 9.. Emailed them my invoice and request for upgrade to 9.. Never heard back from Sony tech support. Did anyone else have success with this?

You can download it directly from Sony (the links have been posted here several times). However, you really need to contact Sony Customer Service and do what they request to get a serial number for the new version. Make sure you contact Customer Service instead of Tech Support.

Hi Edward, what do you mean the link has been posted here several times? Isn't that just the link to download the trial version of 9 from Sony's website? I contacted Customer Service but they told me this is something that is handled by tech support.
My only concern is missing out on the ver 9 upgrade if I wait. I don't want to upgrade to 9 as of right now due to incompatibility with Cineform. I just want to get a hold of the serial # and upgrade to 9 after they come out with fixes for all of the issues.

That's the same link you would use. When you install the trial, upon running it the first time you're given options of entering the serial number to fully unlock it or continue to run in trial mode. As I said, CALL Customer Service - Tech Support is not the correct avenue.

Are there any upgrade specials for owners of Vegas 8 pro?
thanks - PK
Also are the new features worth the cost of upgrading?

Thanks Edward. Seems a rather expensive upgrade at $249. My last upgrade from V7 to V8 was $99.

as you go through the process (and enter your current serial number), the price should be reduced by another $50. Not sure when that deal ends.

Paul, the $249 is for the boxed version while the download version is $235.
Both prices are before the introductory $50 discount (ends on June 30) which is applied part way through the order process.
